Birth, childhood and teenager years

7th March 1969, that’s my birthday. The year they put a man on the moon. (actually there were three). The year Nixon came to power. Same year of birth: Marilyn Manson, Michael Schuhmacher, Oliver Kahn, Linus Torvalds. Anything was possible that year.

Gaustadt --> Bischberg --> Bamberg (twice) - we move house a couple of times.

I spent my highschool years at Kaiser-Heinrich-Gymnasium Bamberg, where I graduated in 1988.

Student years

Went to school in Bamberg, studied in Bamberg - sounds darn boring, doesn’t it?! Well, it actually would be, if it weren’t for my exchange visits at the University of Warwick, UK (for 7 months) and the University of South Carolina, USA (for 10 months).

Teaching I

Teacher training between 1996 and 1998 - always a rough time, followed by a one-year-assignment at a school near Nuremberg. Unfortunately it wasn’t followed by a proper tenurable teaching position,

IT industry

In August 1999 I started at a Munich-based software company called IXOS (now part of the OpenText corporation), providing document management solutions. They hired me as online editor (German, English and HTML knowledge), but later I took over some web development as well.

Teaching II

In 2003 I was offered a teaching position at Gymnasium Tegernsee where I spent three years, during which I took up IT-studies to be able to teach Informatik (computer sciences) at secondary schools in addition to English and German.

In 2006 I applied for transfer to - guess where - my and my wife’s home town Bamberg. It actually worked , and now I’m employed at Gymnasium Fränkische Schweiz in Ebermannstadt and we live in Bamberg as planned.
